BIG BROTHER AWARDS - BULGARIA NOMINATIONS
FOR INSTITUTIONS THAT VIOLATE OUR PRIVACY IN BULGARIA

Internet Society Bulgaria and Access to Information Program in Bulgaria call for nominations about governmental bodies, companies and persons which have violated or violate the privacy of citizens and citizens' data.

Suggestions can be submitted via the ISOC-Bulgaria blog entry here. Government agencies and private companies are increasingly violating the privacy of people everywhere. Enormous amounts of personal data are being collected, stored and processed - often illegally - in the pursuit of more efficient marketing, greater social control, and more powerful mechanisms for monitoring of the citizen.

Every year Privacy International and a growing number of affiliate human rights groups present the Big Brother Awards to government agencies, private companies and individuals who have excelled in the violation of our privacy. The symbol of the anti-award is a military boot which is crushing a human head. The BigBrother Awards in Bulgaria takes place since 2002.
